Jacks or Better The most popular video poker game
The three most played video poker games are Deuces Wild, Jacks-or-Better, and Joker Poker.
By far the most popular of the three is Jacks-or-Better and the reason for its popularity is based around the odds of success if the game is played correctly
Here then are some strategies to win big in the long run
Check the payouts!
Jacks-or-Better can give you allow you to play at almost even odds if you play the right machines so check the payouts for full house and royal flush
Here are sample payouts:
Machine Payback %
9 for a full house or 6 for a flush 99.5%
8 for a full house or 5 for a flush 97.4%
7 for a full house or 5 for a flush 96.3%
6 for a full house or 5 for a flush 95.2%
When you play jacks or better ( or any video poker game ) you only want to play machines that give you the best odds of success, so you only want to play 9 / 6 machines.
You need to get the Royal Flush
Always play the maximum number of coins in order to be eligible for the bonus payout for a royal flush. The way to beat a video poker machine is to hit a high paying royal flush, it's as simple as that. If you don't hit it you will never win in the long run
There are two points to keep in mind when playing for the royal flush:
1. You have to play maximum coins to get it. In fact, if you don't play maximum coins, all you are doing is funding other players to win the jackpot which is pointless!
2. You need to be able to play for a long time due to the odds of hitting the royal flush in Jacks or better. Playing on a 9 / 6 machine, the odds are 1:40,000 of getting a Royal Flush, or equivalent to approximatley 100 hours of play.
You need to keep playing the machine until you get the royal flush; it's as simple as that. You will finance your play from your bankroll, or by collecting money from the intermediate hands until you get it.
You can't expect to win in short periods of time you need to look at your play over the longer term.
Don't rush your play
Take your time to study every hand and play it correctly there should be no rushing and mistakes.
The machine won't care how long you take over each hand!
Losing & Winning hands
Only 21% of the hands dealt are winning ones in Jacks or better, 79% are junk.
When you play jacks or better you need to convert these losers into winners.
Here are some simple rules to increase the odds of success and getting more winning hands and the all important royal flush.
Hold all paying hands. The exception is: Break up a lesser paying hand if you get four cards to a royal flush.
When you're dealt non-paying hands, check the following, and hold as per the list:
? Hold any four cards to a straight flush.
? Hold any three cards to a royal flush.
? Hold any four cards to a flush.
? Hold any low pair (tens or lower).
? Hold any four-card consecutive straight.
? Hold any two high cards of the same suit.
? Hold any three cards to a straight flush.
? Hold J, Q, and K of different suites.
? Hold any two high cards of different suits.
? Hold J, Q or K with a Ten of the same suit.
? Hold any single high card.
If you don't get any of the above, draw five new cards. Many new players hate doing this but its better to draw 5 cards that hold onto cards for no other reason that you have been dealt them!
If you follow the above strategies when playing jacks or better you will have the odds in your favor and have more chance of winning.
Playing video poker games is fun but at the end of the day you will have more fun when you consistently increase your bankroll and the above strategies will help you achieve this.
